As a Math facilitator at a Texas Title I school, I write assessments continuously. I wrote this practice 5th Grade STAAR Assessment using the blueprint posted by TEA and all known information about the test to this point.
There are 50 total questions. 47 multiple choice and 3 griddable. 65% of the test is on readiness standards and 35% is over supporting standards as designated by the state of Texas. There is also a detailed item analysis included with answer key; therefore, you can use the test to collect data in an easier way.
I worked to create a test, increasing the rigor by using bigger numbers, increasing the use of multi-step problems, and thinking outside the box for the student expectations that are going to be heavily tested indepthly. This assessment is the perfect combination of questions, and is written with a realistic expectation of what most students should be able to master by the end of 5th grade.
I will also be posting a second practice assessment for 5th grade, as well as 2 practice STAAR assessments for 4th and 3rd grade. Please pass the word to your friends, if you like what you see. If you have any suggestions for making it even better, I will modify it as well as we learn more about this new assessment.

Our students took this test last year about a week before the STAAR as a practice, and there scores on the real test were actually better than on this test, so I felt that the rigor was at the right level. I am sorry if you disagree and are not happy with the product. Until we have a released test, we can only speculate the level of rigor from the released questions.

I found a couple mistakes on the answer document for this one and one mistake on the test. I have corrected and clicked to contact buyers. If you do not get the notice to re-download, please let me know. No matter how many times you proof, there always seems to be an error. I guess I need an editor! :)

I am not sure why TpT is saying this. I tried to purchase one of my products and it gives me the option of credit card, pay pal, or school purchase order. The payment options all come from the TpT site, not from myself. Maybe something was wrong with the system, as it is not something I can control.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

My husband and I have a combined total of 26 years of experience in education. I have 15 years education experience ranging from 1st - 5th grade in all subject areas, but my love is creating math materials for elementary school. I have been a math facilitator for the past 5 years at a Title I school in Texas where I have learned the importance of assessing students at the level of rigor needed to increase student achievement. Writing assessments is my expertise. My husband has been teaching high school Algebra, Algebra II, and PreCal for the past 13 years helping to increase Algebra scores from 40% to 80% in some sub population groups. We love the opportunity to share what we have created to help students be more successful.
