This is the kid-friendly version of the Texas STAAR Test's composition rubric for 4th grade. The language has been simplified from the original rubric released by the state. In this file you will find the NARRATIVE rubric and the EXPOSITORY rubric. The file contains full sheet versions of each. It also has half-sheet versions for stapling to compositions for grading. I have also included enlarged versions which can be printed from a regular printer and pieced together for classroom posters. These rubrics are based on the STAAR rubrics and don't include any extra information. You can find the SPANISH version in my store. Hope you (Texas teachers) find this helpful!

Has this packet been successful with your students on the STAAR exam?
This product is a modified STAAR writing rubric. It's written in kid-friendly language. Each of my students has this rubric attached to their writing mini-offices. I use it every time I grade a composition. This file contains both a narrative and an expository rubric based directly on the state-issued rubrics (that are not written in kid-friendly language). The file also contains pages to print that you tape together for a poster size rubric to put up in class. Let me know if you have any other questions! Hope you have a wonderful start to the school year!
