Here are response questions and activities for every chapter, WITH ANSWER KEY. Responses include reading comprehension, word meaning through context, sequence, literary terms, and more.
The response questions for Ch. 8, 9, & 10 are arranged so they may be used instead for a test.
There is also a word search for names in the novel, and a research project regarding dogs for a tri-fold.
This is an excellent story for grades 4 or 5 as a read aloud or guided reading. It is especially good too for grades 6,7,8 for struggling readers, and I've taken that into account with the response questions.
