Santa has loaded his sleigh! Once he is flying, he has trouble keeping all the gifts on-board! Oh dear! He is dropping his gifts out of his sleigh. Help Santa determine how many gifts he has left on his sleigh.
This file contains the pages you need to make game boards, question cards and worksheets for this cute and exciting activity.
Your students can work with numbers up to 10 or numbers up to 20, as I have included game variations for both.
Players will delight in loading Santa's sleigh with gifts and then modelling how some of them drop off to solve the subtraction problems. Lots of hands-on fun!

How cute! I teach second, and still have several who need to practice their subtraction skills. This is a fun way to do it!

Thank you for the fun and challenging game. We use Investigations Math and with teacher trainers in the building, I have to limit its exposure. They don't want to see the algorithm openly presented until the students figure out the math thinking on their own. Parents on the other hand ask me why we don't use the algorithms their kids enjoy.

Great game. I will have my more advanced play with those who need the practice.

I have just blogged about your free Christmas resource on my freebie blog. I just wanted to let you know, I hope that is okay. If you would like me to remove it, please let me know. I hope that it helps bring you some traffic.

I Love this math game. If I offer you my help, would you be willing to translate it into French so that French Immersion teachers (like myself) could use it?
I would be happy to, but have no idea where to start - I have no French language ability at all! If you email me at frogspotblog@hotmail.com I would appreciate your help :)
My name is Melanie. I have been a classroom teacher in Australia since 2001, and designing digital resources for teachers since 2005. I love doing both and think TpT is wonderful for bringing both worlds together for me!
