Students will be engaged before, during and after this lab as they learn more about the process of excavating. They will research well known paleontologists and then they will excavate a given specimen. (I purchased fossils embedded in plaster of Paris from the Dollar Store, or you can create your own with small gems and plaster of Paris). At the end of this investigation the students will have a better understanding of the excavation process.
