This is a 26 slide PowerPoint presentation on the nature of science and the scientific method. The slides are colorful and visually appealing. Steps of the scientific method are covered, but more importantly, the lesson provides examples and practice problems illustrating the application of the scientific method. Analysis questions and answers are included.
The download will include 4 pages of notes for the teacher and a 5 page notes outline for the student. Students will fill in their outline as the Powerpoint is being presented. The notes are offered in an editable Word document as well as a pdf form.
Thank you for downloading my primary free item. I have many other free items. Look for the file labeled "FREE!" in my store.

Used your intro. to the Scientific Method this BTS week with grades 7 & 8. The examples are practical and the notes are VERY easy for the kids to gather with the accompanying packet. Plus, we will be using it as a go-to reference tool throughout the year :-D Looking forward to using more of your great pieces.
This lesson is not only has a hook, it is completely thorough. I will be using this for my first note-taking session for 9th graders. Thank you for providing this free. I will be sure to come back and check out your other items in the future.
Thanks so much! I modified this for use with my AP Bio classes as we review scientific method before they design their own experiment. I love the PowerPoint too but feel you went a little overboard with the animations. I am going to have to take a lot out or I will be clicking all day :) I don't have a 'clicker' so I actually have to stand at my computer and use the mouse, otherwise this might not be such an issue for me. Thanks though, great materials!!
Impressive work, Amy. I will use this PPT as a resource for my science and social studies methods classes as an example of teacher's creative and highly professional work and also as a resource for them to read and understand the concept of scientific method.
Thank you for sharing! Sharing is caring in today's world.

Your work is phenomenal! Wish I could find this quality for 3rd and 4th grade.
Wow! This is a great resource for investigation skills with a good practice problem to put it into some context. There is a lot of detailed explanation but it's still student friendly..and it's free!
Thanks a lot!
Thank you Amy! As usual "Science Stuff" provides all of the notes necessary to present the project/program; the PowerPoint is engaging, has frequent checks for understanding to keep the students involved and thinking and covers the necessary aspects of the scientific method while explaining the why, how and what of all the steps, including easily understood examples as it progresses--very high quality and appreciated!
I love how colorful the PowerPoint is, along with great content! There are so many examples, that this would never get old even if using it year after year. Well done Amy! Thanks for sharing your great work!
This is fabulous! I can't believe you are giving this away for free! So much work has clearly gone into this product--great pictures, definitions, plus the note-taking page for students is a HUGE addition...bravo!
