This is a sure way to hook your students by using Scooby Doo!! After teaching a unit on literary elements (plot, setting, character, theme, etc...) the students can complete this project as an alternative assessment, ratehr than a paper and pencil test. First, you as the teacher need to choose a Scooby Doo episode to show the students a few times and they will take notes on the video. Helpful tip: Choose an episode that is about 20 minutes long. After the video is complete, the students will create their project following the Scooby Doo project criteria sheet. The kids love this project because it involves Scooby and the Mystery Inc. gang!!!
This product is not worth $7. The students are suppose to create a story elements booklet and I thought for the price that the booklet pages would be included. The author did include a rubric for easy grading.

I have covered all of the literary terms that they need for this lesson and I found a dvd of short Scooby-Doo episodes. About how long did it take to complete this lesson? I love the idea for this project and I think my 7th graders are going to love it too.

It took the kids about three days in class to complete the project. What I didn't expect is the kids needed me to play the episode several times even though they took notes. But maybe that won't happen to you. Best of luck and let me know if you need anything else. :-)
