***NEW****PROGRAMMABLE PDF!!!****

I am very excited to offer this product to you! I created it to use in my classroom, and now I am extending it to you!

Included is a super fun and exciting way for your students to learn their sight words -- and they will be motivated by ice cream!

With the program, your students will learn sets of 10 words which are color coded on their word ring and on the word wall. When they have mastered those words, they simply add a scoop to their ice cream cone and add the next set of cards to their word ring. The children are so motivated by adding new words onto their word ring, they forget they are learning!

I have included 100 words for the word wall and for the word ring. BUT WAIT -- maybe you need more words?! This PDF is programmable! You simply type in the words that you need, print and you are set! Also included is an introductory letter for parents, a progress monitoring form, black line masters to keep track of ice cream scoops, and three different choices for your word wall alphabet.

I liked the programmable sheets and the option to be able to cut and paste the words into the order they are presented in my reading series. However, when words are typed or cut and pasted into the programmable pages the font is much larger than than the original size font in your pages. Is there any way to update the programmable pages with a smaller font? Or to send me an editable or programmable pages? kchristie@rochester.k12.mi.us.

The font size should change as you type. That is the way I programmed it. You already own the only editable pages I have. The pdf is an editable file. Perhaps you need to update your Adobe? You can e-mail me the file and I can take a look at it to see how it looks from my end. But, on my version (and the version I uploaded) the font gets smaller as you type the letters. Just let me know! growingkinders@gmail.com

My kids just pointed something out today. List 8 has repeats: not, will, was.
Also, list 10 repeats the word did.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this product!!!! My kids are SO excited to earn the scoops, and the parents think it's fantastic! Thank you!!

Yes, I noticed those doubles! Glad the kids noticed! I hope to get them fixed soon, but it might not be until after school is out. :( I was combining so many sight word lists that I guess I missed some! I do notice that sometimes my kiddos can read it on one list and not on the other.... :) Glad your kiddos are loving the scoops! It's a great motivator!

I love this product however I am typing in some of my own words and when I do the font is an arial font and not the century gothic that you used. I do not want my word cards in this font. Is there a way to change it??

Have you opened it with Adobe? Make sure that you don't open it with preview. Alternately, maybe you need to upgrade your PDF viewer? Let me know if either of those fixes work.

Hi! I LOVE this, but I was wondering if you could change the chevron pattern to a black and white polka dot pattern?
Thanks!

I wanted to do it, and I tried to do it, but it was just too difficult to all all of the little boxes. It was so incredibly frustrating!! Hope you understand! :)

Are you opening it with adobe? You can't type on it at all? It should still work - it's just a file....so unless the file somehow got corrupted....try downloading it again...

I love your Scoopin Up Words packet that I just purchased!! I am so excited to use this with my class!! Is it possible to get a blank copy of page 16 (Sight Word Lists) so that I can write in my own words? If not, I completely understand- I can make my own! Thanks so much for your hard work in putting this together- it is AWESOME!! :)

I bought the Scoopin up Sight Words and have been trying to use the programable pages, they do not let me type on them. I have tried 2 different computers and none of them worked. They highlight the blocks but nothing happens and the cursor goes to the directions on the side but no typing is allowed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi! I was just wondering if the whole document is programmable or only the page to add additional words. I love this product and want to use it in my classroom, but need to introduce words according to my district's pacing guide. If there is a way to change the order of the words and still maintain the color formats and template shapes that would be great!

Hello! I love your stuff! I thought I purchased the Scoopin'Up Sight Words Programmable word wall, but it is not in the 'my purchases' section of the website. When I pull it up from the search on the home page it says I own it, so I can't even purchase it again.....any suggestions. I love the idea of a programmable word wall and really want to use it. I am at a year round school that starts on Monday and hope to start building my wall within the first few weeks. I would appreciate any help or suggestions that you can give me. Thanks much.

Hi Kathleen,

I LOVE your sight words programmable word wall. I was wondering on the part where you can insert your own sight words into the colored border boxes, can you put 10 of each color instead of 8 since each list has 10 words not 8. I would really appreciate it! Thank you!

The only way to fit 10 onto a page is to turn the remaining 2 boxes sideways. I could do that, but then you wouldn't be able to type on them :)

Hi,
I just purchased the Scoopin' Up Sight Words! and I love the idea of this to motivate my firsties next year. I am wondering if it's possible for you to make page 19 programmable (like some of your other pages on this product) so that I can type out the Fry Words into it.
Thanks so much!

Hi Michelle, I actually tried to make that page editable, but there are so many fields to add and they are so close together, it just because too difficult and frustrating! If I have more time in the future, I will work on it. It's very tedious to add all the boxes, and that page turned out to be very difficult! Hope you understand!

Can you tell me which sight word list that you use? We teach words from our phonics and reading program as well as another list that 1st grade teachers asked us to introduce. It a is mish mash of Dolch and Fry plus a few extra! I'd love to find a "set" that includes all of our words.
Thanks!

The words that are typed already on the cards are from the last two editions of Scott Foresman Reading Street, color and number words, and Fountas and Pinell (all of the 1st 25 and some of the second set of 50). However, the packet has a programmable part to it -- you can type any additional sight words directly onto the pdf and print out that page :) So, essentially, you can add all of your words onto the template!

Does each child have a ring? I was just wondering if you print them off at school or somewhere like staples? I was just thinking 100 cards with 20 kids that would be a lot of paper. Also, do you laminate them so they can be used year after year?

Yes, each child will need a sight word ring. However, each child doesn't need to have one. I send one ring home and one ring to school. I have found they take more ownership if they have their own ring. We have a print shop at our school that does the copying for us. I have parent help to cut them out. You could certainly laminate the cards that you keep at school! Totally up to you how you work the program!

Hi Kathleen! I love this word wall set. It is exactly what I am looking for! Before I purchase it, I just want to make sure I can use it at school. Do I need to be able to install the font that it is already typed in? We are unable to install fonts of our choice on our school machines. I can install anything at home, but would rather print at school :) The font looks like Century Gothic, which our school machines do have--but if it is something different, I thought I had better ask. Thanks!

Hi! The font is the same that is on the cards shown. I have it programmed in, so it should work on any machine. This is a new path for me with the programmable PDFs, so PLEASE let me know if it doesn't work for you! You should be able to open it up on any machine and it will work (provided you have installed the newest version of Adobe Reader. I've tested it on a few machines and it has worked fine. Again, please let me know if something is off!

I see it is color coded. That's what I do in my classroom. I'd like to spice my word wall up a bit; would I be able to put words that I have grouped together all within one color on your word wall form? How many words do you have in each color; can I change the color on my own?

I have 10 words for each color. It is a programmable PDF, so you can type in your own words for each color too! There are 8 cards to a page. The colors are: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, black/white, gray, and brown.

Scoopin' up Sight Words -- Qs: 1. How did you select which 10 words for each "scoop"?
Are you using ... Fry? Dolsch? A combination? Your own list? 2. Since the file is programmable, I'm assuming I would be able to change not only the words, but also the font, right? (We use D'Nealian so it's nice to provide students opportunities to see/use it).

Love the color coding of the words and the ice cream scoop motivator! Can also be used to tie in counting by 10s and color words. : D This looks terrific!

The words that I have included are a combination of words -- from Scott Foresman Reading Street, Fountas and Pinnell, and color and number words. The font is NOT changeable, unfortunately. In that case, you would have to print off labels. If there is enough demand, I can make another packet with D'Nealian, but it is a very time consuming process to create the programmable forms. Thanks for your questions!
