Common Core Weekly Word Work is the updated version of my Weekly Word Wizard sets. This unit consists of 36 weeks of language arts printables designed to introduce, practice and review essential skills. Every one of the 21 weekly questions are directly aligned to Common Core State Standards for second grade. Each week is presented in the exact same format providing scaffolded repetition to ensure that your students master the skills and retain what they’ve learned over the course of a year.
Although similar in design to my Weekly Word Wizards , which were written before the implementation of CCSS, the content is entirely different.

Just noticed on week 7 - gorilla is spelled wrong
Not sure if you would be interested in adding a Student Data sheet but my students have been tracking which questions they get right and wrong each week. Then, they refer to the standard list you have included to see what they are having trouble with. So if they notice that they have missed # 10 several times they can see that they need to work on capitalizing proper nouns.

Hi, Denise! I LOVE this pack -- my kids are doing a page daily right now (since I just bought it!) and I can SEE them learning every day. They're finally mastering those possessive apostrophes! :)
We did week 12 earlier this week, and I noticed a type in box 12: "giraffes" is misspelled. Everything else so far is PERFECT, so I figured you'd want to know so you can fix it.

Hi. I wanted to know if this was just for the Florida core or if it is for all the states? Do you have anything that is a daily word practice. I am looking for something like a D.O.L. but I don't think this would be enough for a page a day to do during language arts bell work.

This is based on National CCSS, which to my knowledge is what Florida is using as well, they just named the standards slightly different due to a legislative issue that actually mandates how the standards need to be named. I'm not sure I understand the second part of your question. Do you need something that has a page for every day instead of one page per week?

I'm working on it, but it most likely be a summer project at this point. The original Word Wizards I have were created for grades 2/3 but they're not as closely aligned to ccss. The word wizards are sold in 9 week sets though, so you might want to try set 4 for the end of the year to see how it goes in your room. Hope that helps!

I love your weekly word wizards and have been using them for two years now. Of course, I need to switch over to the new ones for common core and I have them on my wishlist(waiting for a sale-LOL). Just wondering... will you be doing the same type of makeover with your weekly math wizards too? I love those as well! Thanks for all your amazing products.

Hi, I've previously purchased all of your word work activities packets and LOVE them. Just for clarification, although the format is the same, the questions are not the same as the previous packets, correct? Also, is this a page a day/page a week format? I've been rotating your previous packets as they were set up to last 9 weeks, but we finish them in four/five weeks. My students complete a page each morning, during workshop. Before I purchase this item, I want to make sure I'm not purchasing the exact same thing I already have and that it's something that will last me more than 4/5 weeks.

I've been teaching for 17 years. I started out as a 5th grade drop-out prevention teacher and I am currently teaching 2nd grade gifted students. In between, I also taught 3rd and 4th grade, was the Drop-out prevention resource specialist, and taught writing as a special.
