This 4 poster set serves as a great resource for students. The 4 words used to describe where a child believes he/she is working are: Novice-just beginning to learn a skill, Apprentice-starting to 'get it'and moving forward with a skill, Practitioner-meeting a goal for a skill, and Expert-going above and beyond what is expected for a skill.

Hillary... I LOVE your self evaluation posters! I was wondering if you'd be willing to design an "Ask an Expert" type of poster for me using the same type of graphics/letters you used on your posters. Here is my idea... I want to make an "Ask an Expert" corner in my room where I post posters (signed lists) of students who have mastered specific skills (shoe tying, coat zipping, etc.). When the kiddos in my class need help, they will be instructed to visit the "ask an expert" corner to see who can help them. Does that make sense? :)

That sounds like a great idea! Do you want just a poster that says 'ask an expert' or do you want individual ones that list the specific skills? If so, would you send me a list of the items that you would want me to make and email them to me? You can email me at hilary35@me.com Thanks for the neat idea...I hope I can help you out!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching for 25 years. I have taught kindergarten and 1st grade...then began to loop with 2nd and 3rd graders. I absolutely loved looping! It was so exciting to watch the growth in those little buggers over a two year period....and talk about getting attached! Those little people, their families and I became very close. We stopped looping a few years ago when we changed principals. I'm trying to talk my new principal into letting me team teach with a friend....we just want to knock out one of the walls!
