This is a great activity to begin any Shakespeare unit. I begin by asking the students to tap into their prior knowledge of Shakespeare and brainstorm all they know on the board. I then take them to the library or computer lab and have them look up information on his life, the theatre and Elizabethan England in order to complete these two activities.
It's extremely adaptable to any Shakespeare play that is being covered. My students are using it now to help them highlight some key elements from my lectures on this topic. The mini-poster will be great as a reflective evaluation (and I hope they all will look great posted on my wall!)
