This two page document is a great activity to help students get comfortable with Shakespearean language at the beginning of a unit on Much Ado About Nothing. Instructions to students: Use a combination of the Shakespearean insults listed in the three columns below, and preface them with “thou.” In order to create variety and deeper meaning, use additional terms from the Shakespearean to Modern Dictionary. Once you have completed the Shakespearean banter, translate what your lines mean into modern English.
