This is a bundle of 18 student worksheets to use with the novel Shiloh by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor.
This bundle includes:
-A pre reading worksheet
-12 Comprehension Worksheets - roughly one per chapter, though I did combine 2 chapters in a couple of places.
-3 End-of-Book Worksheets (Cause and Effect, Characters, Plot Summary)
-A worksheet to help students thoughtfully compare and contrast the book with the movie.
-An Independent Project Grid with 9 Choices
Some of these questions are basic comprehension while others ask students to evaluate choices, compare characters and events, predict what will happen next, analyze quotes, explore the author's intent, make connections to characters, find supporting examples, and summarize.
This product has been updated to include both PDF and Word formats. Zipped files should open automatically when you download them. If for some reason they don't, just email me at rachellynette@gmail.com and I will be happy to email you the documents directly.

I love the before reading sheet and the end of story sheets and activities. The open ended questions were very good as well. It would have been helpful to have an easy answer key.

Great chapter questions! I will start this novel unit right after state assessments (early April).
The only thing that would have helped me out, was to have an answer key included. I had to take time out to fill in keys.

My students were very successful with the comprehension worksheets. It made them think about what they were reading and in most cases they had to go back and reread the chapter to answer the questions. I really liked that! Great product!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Most of my teaching experience is with gifted and talented students in grades 2-4, though I have worked with children of all ages in general education classrooms as well. A few years ago I stopped teaching in order to write nonfiction children's books full time. Gradually over the last couple of years, my career has switched from writing to creating teaching materials here on Teacher Pay Teacher. I love creating teaching products (most recently task cards) and feel just as passionate about my work now as I did when I was teaching.
