Short A Super Pack of Activities

This product contains many short a activities to enhance your short a phonics lessons. It includes:
~ 40 short a word cards
These cards can be used whole group, small
groups, or in centers to practice reading.
They can also be used in other activities in
this packet.
~ Word Families Recording Page
Students write words that belong to different
short a word families. Students can search
the room for words, or use the word cards.
~ Short A Word Sorting Mats
Students sort the word cards with the short
a family they belong. The short a mats
included are: an, am, ag, and, ast, ap, at,
ad, ack.
~ ABC Order Recording Pages (5 words or 10
words)
Give students either 5 word cards, or 10 word
cards to arrange into ABC order. They record
their answers on these recording sheets.
~ Short A Sentences
These are sentences containing many short a
words for students to practice reading.
~ Build-A-Word
Students cut apart the letters and build short
a words. Students can create their own words
or build the words given by their teacher.
~ Build-A-Word Recording Page
After building a word, students record it on
this recording page (real and nonsense words).
~ 30 Short A BINGO cards
Cut and laminate to reuse every year, or
simply give students a photocopy of a BINGO
card. Teacher calls a short a word, and
the students must identify and mark if they
have it. Continue until someone has BINGO.
~ Word Cards
The small version is for the teacher who only
calls the words. The large version is for the
teacher who chooses to display the words
called.
