A collection of 9 stations, plus a FREEBIE Cube Game, a FREEBIE handwriting practice and a FREEBIE Oo Practice, that help students learn and independently practice the /o/ sound.
This includes a student choice board with files and directions for accompanying station activities and a formative assessment.
The stations include activites such as a Create a Book, Pound, Tap and Stamp, Cube Game and more. These stations are designed to be used for one week where students select one station per day or could also be used for two weeks in which all stations will be completed by the end of two week period.
The open nature of the activities allows for differientiated levels to be met with your students while working on the same concept.
Station 1: Book - Students create their own
Short O book by writing sentences using the concept. There is a place to add illustrations.
Station 2: O Build a Word Game - Students will use letter tiles to build words that begin with the /o/ sound.
Station 3: O Back to Back- Students will sit back to back with a friend. Students will give each other clues about the O words. Students will keep the card if they guess it correctly. The student with the most cards at the end wins!
Station 4: Hot Pot Matching- Students will label the pictures then match the pictures that rhyme.
Station 5: Cut, Label and Glue- Students will label the pictures that begin with the /o/ sound, cut them out and glue them on their word work.
Station 6: Word Search- Students read the words on the word list, find them in the word search, then write a sentence. Great for your higher level kiddos!
Station 7: Short Vowel Picture or Toy Sort-
Sort the pictures onto the correct side. Label each picture. Words include 1,2,and 3 syllable words to challenge the kids.
Station 8: O Pound, Tap, and Stamp- Students will look at the picture, pound the word, the stamp or write the beginning sound and then the word (depending on level of the student).
Station 9: Make it, Paint, it, Tear it! - Students may create any short o item by painting a picture, torn paper art, or by using various art materials to come up with their own creative masterpiece. They use their creation as inspiration to write a fiction or non-fiction story.
