This graphic organizer shows the relationship of the following short story elements and their corresponding parts: character - protagonist and antagonist; plot - plot pyramid; point of view - first person, third person limited and all knowing; conflict - internal and external, person vs. self, vs. person, vs. nature, vs. society; theme; and setting - time and place.
Use the organizer as you teach the elements and to remind students of what they mean. Each time you teach a new story, simply go around the organizer and see if your students can find all of the elements in the story.

I had my students add this to their binders for my English classes in the notes section. It will be a great visual reminder to them of the important parts of a story.
For my visual learners, I think this is a great resource. I just downloaded the file so I haven't used it yet in the classroom. Thanks for your hard work!
Great visual tool for the classroom! I like the idea of making it into a large poster for display, but I will also use it as a tool for students to keep in their reading journal folder as a reference. Thanks!

This is an awesome visual! I am going to take it to Office Max and have it made into a poster for ongoing reference for my resource Amer. Lit. class.
