This is a series of lessons that gets students familiar with the structure of short stories, through reading and writing.
Week 1: Students learn about the dramatic arc through notes and practice. They will read a short story and plot the components of the story on an arc worksheet.
Also this week, students learn how to brainstorm ideas for their own stories.
Week 2: Students plot their story on the arc and begin drafting the story.
Week 3: Peer Editing and Revision
The folder includes daily notes, lesson plans and handouts. Also included is a packet that covers each day of the drafting phase. Finally, a model short story (written by me)is included for you to model.
