These short pictures are designed for the Springtime Vowel Sorting activity. Specific directions for differentiating this activity for students in your small group instruction can be found on the Make, Take & Teach blog. The pictures can be also be used for any sorting activity. Simply choose which vowels you would like to work with, place the vowel letters on the table and have your students place the corresponding pictures under the vowel.

We had fun with this; when my 5-year-old got a little tired of sorting, we started putting the picture on a different vowel and saying the word with that vowel sound instead. He thought that was hilarious! Thanks for sharing!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am a RtI Coordinator working closely with K-3rd grade teachers providing hands-on support and professional development in the area of reading. My focus is using assessment data to guide classroom instruction as well as intervention for at-risk learners. Make, Take & Teach is my way of providing teachers with the materials they need for their small group intervention. Most activities can also be used in literacy centers. Teacher intervention kits contain 15 activities (already printed for you in color and on 90lb cardstock) which align to one of the Big Five Ideas and commonly adminstered assessments (e.g. DIBELS Next).
