This is a 6 activity* printable ideal for independent word work stations or centers. It focuses on short i (cvc pattern), and assumes that students have knowledge of the 26 letter sounds.
The activities are described below.
Activity #1: Students will use the frames on p.4 to �frame� the words on p.3. After �framing� the words, the student will record 5 of the words on the companion sheet (p.5) and write a sentence using the word.
Activity #2: Students will use a highlighter to highlight the words that have the short i sound (p.6). Then, they record the words that they highlight.
Activity #3: Students will sort short i words and short e words by cutting and pasting them into the correct column (p.7)
Activity #4: Write the short i word. Stamp the word. (p.8)
Activity #5: Students will illustrate and assemble a mini-book of short i words (p.9).
Activity #6: Students will create a fold-and-flip organizer where they will either write or paste real words or silly words (i.e. nonsense words).
Option A: Create double-sided copies of p.11 & 12 to make the fold-and-flip and use the cut-outs found on p.15 to sort and paste.
Option B: Create double-sided copies of p.11 & 13 to make the fold-and-flip, and pre-cut the word cards on p.14. Students then select the cards from a stack, read them, and determine if they are real words or silly words. They record the words on the lines. There will be more cards than recording space. The cards could also be used independently for reading practice.

Check out the item description to see the spelling patterns that the Word Work Mega Packs include (the activities are the exact same, but the spelling pattern differ). I also have separate packs for digraphs and r-controlled vowels - again, same activities, but different spelling patterns :) Thanks for the positive feedback!!!
