Here is a cut and paste activity that allows children to demonstrate their knowledge of place value with tens and ones. Each child's work will be unique as he shows a 2-digit number using groups of 10s and single units of 1s. Children choose a number card, then cut out the correct amount of units to equal their number. This activity can be used to show 4 examples or use the back of the paper also to show 8 examples.
This activity was created by Terry Palmieri. I used it with my 1st and 2nd grade math students. They love the cut and paste and the hands on experience, and I love seeing the variety of numbers my class represents as they each choose different 2-digit number. No more copying the answer from your neighbor!
