Practice sight words and other common words through super hero themed creative writing activities.
This packet includes word cards with Fry's first 84 sight words, plus color and number words. Students can cut out the words and paste on writing pages, then create sentences about super heroes, using the word(s) they've cut out.
You can choose which words to give to students, and how many to have them use on each writing page. You can also easily substitute harder words or other spelling words to customize for your students. *I've included the words in both lowercase font and in all capital letters, so you can pick the style your prefer.
A *SUPER* fun and creative way for students to put those sight words into action!

The directions are super simple and even give the student options. Kids will love to write about Super Heroes. Even if you only need one kid to work on it (perhaps in an upper grade), it is kid-pleasing and excellent practice.

I actually created them for my kindergarten-aged son at the end of that year. He needed a little modeling at first but could definitely handle it on his own pretty quickly. The super heroes were a big hit for him!

I would make more space for writing the story. Every child likes super heroes and this allows for both creative writing and developing values and social expectations.

Thank you for the feedback, Cindy! I developed it especially for emerging readers/writers, so I figured the story would be told mostly with pictures and a sentence or two at this point. I should add a page with more lines as an option though for kids who want to write more. Good point!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have 10 years of teaching experience in the elementary grades, and 8 years as a parent. I'm passionate about creating products that combine what I know about education from both perspectives. Before staying home with my three young boys, I taught grades 3-6. I also subbed in grades K-12.
