These Tic-Tac-Toe games are my first graders' favorite partner sight word activity during Literacy Centers. Two game boards can be placed back-to-back in a sheet protector with two colors of Unifix cubes (5 each) and your Literacy Center is ready! Once directions are taught the first week of school, students can work independently as the vocabulary words are changed each week. Copies of the game can also be sent home as an alternative to flash cards. The set of 30 game boards include high frequency words and key words that correspond with popular children's stories such as The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Little Red Hen, The Doorbell Rang, Swimmy, A Color of His Own, etc. (See demo for complete list of stories). Since the games include mostly high frequency words, they could be used with Guided Reading or to reinforce any reading program. The MS Word version allows you to change words on any board. I've also included 3 extra boards that include sight words from our Kindergarten program, as a review to start the year, and a parent letter with directions for playing the game.
