Do you usually have your students illustrate before they write? The what writers do poster has the sequence draw then write...just curious.

It really depends on the year and the child. Some of my children are able to write more once their picture is finished because they add a lot of details to their drawings. It really just depends on the child. I have found this year that my kids that draw well seem to write more if their picture is drawn first. My kids who just want to get finished or who are stronger writers want to spend more time writing than drawing their pictures. I hope this helps.
