Make learning silent letter words a lot more fun with this story about a knight who must find the silent letters that were stolen from the kingdom. The story sets the stage for the importance of silent letters in words, then provides five engaging activities to reinforce the spelling of these tricky words.

Stories and posters and games... OH MY! I am so excited to use this with my 1st graders! I love, love, love the story included in this resource. Including the wr, gn, & kn phonics skills in it provides students with a wonderful way to help them do a pattern search!

I did not want to print the story since the background was yellow, seemed a waste of color ink...we have to pay for our own ink. Maybe offer in black and white for those that have this as a factor.

The reason I didn't offer it in both color and in black and white, was I thought if you print it in gray scale that would work as the black and white version. I'm going to go back and print it in black and white and see how it works. If it doesn't work well, I will add black and white and resubmit it to the site. Thanks so much for your input!!

First of all...thank you so much for your kind words! It's always nice to know other teachers like my resources!! As far as this particular resource is concerned, I think it would be difficult for first graders. However, it would depend on their overall reading level. If most of your students are reading above the first grade reading level, it would work. Otherwise, it may be too much for them. I hope this helps!
