The activity created for this packet can be used for your pocket chart workstation, word work workstation or for any other activity in your classroom where you would like to incorporate these silly sentences! The students will create a sentence using the words provided in the packet. The sentences will be formed by arranging the words in order of the colors (following the directions sheet) to create silly sentences that your students will LOVE!

I have included two sets of the same words: a colored set and a black and white set.
The colored set will need to be printed on white card stock, using colored ink. This will allow the students to place the sentences in the correct order using the colored glow around the words.
The black and white set may be printed on their corresponding colors cardstock or construction paper. Therefore, if you see a red color dot located at the top right corner, you will need to print those pages on red cardstock/ construction paper. Then you will do the same for the other colors: orange, yellow, green, blue, purple. Another option is to print the words on white cardstock/ paper and back them with their appropriate color.
*I suggest printing these silly words on either cardstock or a thick paper for durability!

Also included in the packet is: direction printable for students and corresponding recording sheets!

Have fun creating your silly sentences!

I just purchased this and it is great :) However, I am from Australia and I would need the directions sheet to have the Australian spelling of colour. Would you be able to send me a directions sheet with this change or maybe I can get the font oyu used to try and change it myself?

Thanks.

Hi Morgan, these look great, however I teach bilingual Spanish. Is there a way if I purchase the set in English, I would be able to unlock the document to create or translate it to Spanish? (The joys of teaching Bilingual and getting to recreate the wheel every time. :). Thanks, Jenny

I printed all of mine out and want to get started but there are no words that correspond to the "purple" dot. Is this correct. The only thing there is a period and exclamation point. The sentences don't make sense without the last part. What am I doing wrong or am I missing something? I really want to get this started:)

Hi, I am not sure what last part you are talking about. The purple is for the punctuation marks. Therefore, it reminds the students to end their sentences with punctuation.

I dont have a question just wanted to let you know how awesome this center is! I spent all day wednesday cutting, laminating and cutting again and wondered if all the work was worth it... I set it up and WOW the childre were so excited! They were making sentences and remembering the period at the end. (My class is having a hard time remembering that!)
We didnt get to write the sentences down but they just loved making them! I hope as the year goes on, they can have time to make sentences and write them! Thank you for a great center!!!

I have the same question as KylieElizabeth. Does this correspond to Dolch words? I teach ESOL at the high school level to new English language learners. If the words do match Dolch, which levels does it include? Pre-primer, primer, etc....?

Hi,

I was wondering what your coloured words represent? I am thinking of getting this resources which looks fantastic, to introduce to my grade but I need to know what they are so I can explain it to them and prepare everything first. Can you help me out?

Thanks!

I am almost done cutting out all of the cards, I am ready to get started. Any ideas on how to organize it in a center. I thought cups for each color but my cups are not wide enough. Not sure if a pocket chart would work best----Hoping you would tell me what works best for you. thanks, Jessica Berggren

Hi Jessica, I simply placed all of mine in one bin. However, I told the kids to keep the punctuation and the red words located at the top line of our pocket chart. I found that since there were only a few of each of those colors that it was easy to keep them displayed for easy access. This seemed to work for my students! Hope this helps!

Usually with printing errors it tend to be changing your printing settings. Every printer is different however, when the box appears to print if you click "shrink to printable area" or something similar to that it usually fits it to the page correctly.

The words on the last 50 or so pages are not colored. Is there a reason for that? There is a colored circle in the corner but the words are not "highlighted".

Thanks!

HI Meggie, I explain in the description that I give the buyer two sets of the same words. The first set is in color if you would like to print on white card stock. If you choose to print on colored paper inseatd then follow the directions of the dots. Therefore, use blue card stock for the words that have a blue dot, red card stock for red dots, and so on. However, it is up to you how you decide to print them. I chose to use white card stock with color ink instead.
