Using a teacher-created worksheet and packets of Sixlets candy (after explaining that they can eat the candy only after their work is finished!), have students count the total number of Sixlets in their ―group, and then write a fraction of each color of the whole group. Students will love this interactive lesson and will be practicing math while having a little snack! This was a great activity to do in the springtime right before Easter because it is designed for the spring-time colored Sixlets.
*To do this activity, I used to buy the Easter-colored bags of Sixlets at the Dollar Tree. I hope you are able to find them easily!
*They're also available through Oriental Trading: http://www.orientaltrading.com/sixlets-easter-snack-bags-a2-_K6360.fltr

I spent four years teaching and learning in second grade. :) I'm now in my first year of teaching high school Spanish, levels 1-4. It's an adventure every day.
