This power point is a brief introduction to slavery in Colonial America. It in no way covers all of the details or important facts. It defines what slavery is and gives a brief history of where slavery started, who the first groups to own slaves were, and how Africans first participated in the slave trade.
In then tells and shows pictures/paintings of how slaves were treated: sold like property, separated from families, treated like property. It has two slides about the Middle Passage, and one slide discussing how sometimes slaves on the ships rebelled.
Along with the slides, it's helpful if the teacher gives additional information. I found that this presentation did a fabulous job at narrowing and holding my students' attention while I gave additional info on the subject of the slide. It also flowed and progressed very well.
Like I said above, it leaves a lot out, but I made this presentation because my text book and curriculum included so little about this subject that I at least wanted my students to have exposure to it.
