These cards are awesome to use with the Smart Chute by Didax. You can get one of these nifty items for just about $20! (You can also make one yourself with a milk carton!)

This set of 36 cards allows children to identify the words that make up a contraction in a super fun way! Kids read the contraction on the side with the arrow, say the words that make up the contraction, then pop it in the Smart Chute! When the card comes out, it has turned over and the answer is looking up at them! Magic!

I put a different set of cards out at my stations every week. Everyone tries to get to the Smart Chute first!

These are great Hil! Please post more Smart Chute Cards! I would love an adjective vs. adverb set or a set that has a word with silent letters and then the students have to say which letter(s) are silent on the other side.

I have been teaching for 25 years. I have taught kindergarten and 1st grade...then began to loop with 2nd and 3rd graders. I absolutely loved looping! It was so exciting to watch the growth in those little buggers over a two year period....and talk about getting attached! Those little people, their families and I became very close. We stopped looping a few years ago when we changed principals. I'm trying to talk my new principal into letting me team teach with a friend....we just want to knock out one of the walls!
