These cards are awesome to use with the Smart Chute by Didax. You can get one of these nifty items for just about $20! (You can also make one yourself with a milk carton!)
This set allows children to identify 1 and 2 syllable words in a super fun way! Kids read the word on the side with the arrow, listen and decide how many syllables are in the word, then pop it in the Smart Chute! When it comes out, it has turned over and the answer is looking up at them! Magic!
I put a different set of cards out at my stations. Everyone tries to get the Smart Chute first!

I have been teaching for 25 years. I have taught kindergarten and 1st grade...then began to loop with 2nd and 3rd graders. I absolutely loved looping! It was so exciting to watch the growth in those little buggers over a two year period....and talk about getting attached! Those little people, their families and I became very close. We stopped looping a few years ago when we changed principals. I'm trying to talk my new principal into letting me team teach with a friend....we just want to knock out one of the walls!
