The guidelines, list of individuals to choose from, vital statistics organizer and a rubric is included with this project.
This project is an opportunity to learn about someone who made a difference in our lives today. In honor of Black History Month, Women’s History Month, and Latin American History Month, you will research one individual from this category who truly “made a difference”. Each person was the first to accomplish a particular task, invent an item we use today, taught us something about humanity, or was the best in his or her field.
• Students will complete research after selecting someone who made a difference from the past.
• Students will complete a vital statistics graphic organizer about the person.
• Students will record the various sources used to gather information using MLA format.
• Students will write a clarification essay explaining why the individual researched “made a difference,” is considered a hero, or is worth learning about.
• Students will create products to transform research into a format that allows them to share what they learned with the rest of the class.
• Students will create products that involve use of technology to transform research into a format that allows them to share what they learned with the rest of the class.
