This math mystery is a fun way for 3rd graders to practice doing a variety of word problems in a unique way. Kids just start reading at the beginning of the book, solve the problems, and go where the book tells them to go! If they get the wrong answer, they will have a 'stopper' that will tell them to go back to where they were working, and TRY AGAIN!
There are addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division problems included. There is also a problem with elapsed time and one with money.
I use these mysteries at my math stations during guided math. I am sure your kids will love this holiday math mystery book as much as mine do! I wonder what the next mystery will bring!

On page 8, the problem or answers seem to be incorrect. The answer must be "4" in order to continue the mystery. However, what is the number of ornaments to be divided amoung 5 trees? The original number is 253. 253/5 is not 4. Please let me know your thinking or correct the page and send me the corrected page. Thank you.

Hi! Help! When I ordered this I ordered third grade, however, for some reason it downloaded second grade. The picture still shows third but it gave me 2nd. What can I do to get the correct grade level without having to buy it again?

I have been teaching for 25 years. I have taught kindergarten and 1st grade...then began to loop with 2nd and 3rd graders. I absolutely loved looping! It was so exciting to watch the growth in those little buggers over a two year period....and talk about getting attached! Those little people, their families and I became very close. We stopped looping a few years ago when we changed principals. I'm trying to talk my new principal into letting me team teach with a friend....we just want to knock out one of the walls!
