Everyone loves Charlottes Web and who can resist these adorable graphics! I used the book Some Pig ~ A Charlottes Web Picture Book by E.B. White and illustrated by Maggie Kneen as the springboard text to this week of literacy centers. However, Fern, Wilbur, and Charlotte are well known characters so these literacy centers could easily be used while reading the novel, after watching the movie, or simply on their own! This is not a Charlottes Web unit but would make a great addition to a unit you already have. This is a pack of 5 literacy centers that can be done to teach or reinforce important reading and word skills. Every center includes bright, colorful graphics, a center label card, a directions card, and a follow-up worksheet with black and white graphics (for better photocopying!).
Literacy Centers:
(1) Charlottes Compound Words
Students will read each sentence and identify the compound word in the sentence.
Students will use the cards to make the compound words.
Once they have completed all 12 sentences students will complete the follow-up worksheet.
(2) Synonyms With Fern and Wilbur
Students will read each sentence and find the synonym card for the word in the dotted box.
Once they have completed all 12 sentences students will complete the follow-up worksheet.
(3) Adjectives For Fern
Students will read each sentence and match the adjective that describes Fern in that sentence.
Once they have completed all 8 sentences students will complete the follow-up worksheet where they will match the adjective with proof from the text (included so book not necessary)
(4) Templetons Word Sort (Nouns, Verbs, Adjectives)
Students will sort the words into nouns, verbs, and adjectives.
Once they have sorted all 24 words students will complete the follow-up worksheet.
(5) Wilburs Contractions
Students will make 8 contraction sets.
Once they have matched the sets students will complete the follow-up worksheet.
My class loved these activities and I was thrilled to see them actively engaged for the entire language period!
Please have a look at the preview so that you can see everything that is included.

I am not seeing the centers show up when I try to add them to my cart. Are they still available to purchase?
Thank you.
Yes, they are absolutely still available. I wonder what's going on? What is happening exactly? They won't go in to your cart for you to purchase? Contact TpT because I have never heard of this happening. Please don't be discouraged it is a quick fix I'm sure. Let me know what happens so I can stop worrying.
Thanks,
Natalie

I bought this packet, but it has some more errors. You already sent me one sheet. I think you need to resend the whole thing because many of the pages did not show up.
Hi Lynne,
I know you are frustrated but I 100% assure you that this is not a unit error. I have used this unit with my own class and I guarantee you that this is a download problem. This is a TpT problem. I am also having problems with TpT myself. I purchased a unit 4 days ago and am still unable to download it. I would suggest that you try and redownload the unit from your purchases page. If that does not solve the problem then contact TpT directly. The link is at the bottom of the home page. Apparently, TpT is having some technical problems since they changed to Firefox. I hope for everyone's sake that they get this sorted out soon.

Sometimes when I am printing something it skips a page. Why ~ no idea! It is in the unit but I will send you that page. I need your email address so I can send it to you.

I have been teaching 19 years. I have taught grades 1, 2, 3, and special education. I have taught split grades for several years. This year I am teaching a grade 1/2 split. Every year brings new adventures!
