This literature unit is based on the beloved book Somebody Loves You Mr. Hatch. Take a little break from the basal and do something different while you still maintain a strong academic focus.
This unit includes 8 print and use activities your students can
complete independently, in groups or as a teacher led activity after

about the book and review parts of a book

Thank you for introducing me to this wonderful story! We have been enjoying using your unit to practice sequencing and characterization. The only thing that was a problem for some of my kiddos was the font type and size. They didn't recognize the words and letters as easily. But we solved that with reading buddies!

Thanks so much for taking time to leave feedback :) I tend to agree with you about the font. This was one of the first units that I created quite a while ago. Even though it's not a terribly fancy font, I do plan on going back and remaking this with a clearer font. Before you use it again next year be sure to check your purchases to see if it's been revised. I've started to use a very plain font for all of my products except for titles so that there is no confusion for the kids (which is hard for me because I'm addicted to cute fonts! lol!) Have a great day :)

I love the basal breaks! They are a great way to fill those off weeks between units. This basal break was perfect to help us review for our end of the year test-it helped us review two tested skills- sequence and maps! Keep them coming!!

I've been teaching for 17 years. I started out as a 5th grade drop-out prevention teacher and I am currently teaching 2nd grade gifted students.
