This mat is a great resource to help students develop phonemic awareness and phonics skills. Use this mat to practice segmenting and blending sounds for 2-4 sound words. Students can place a chip, penny, bean or any small object in the box as they say each sound in the word. Laminate the mats and use dry erase markers to use the boxes to segment words by writing the letters in each box for beginning spelling skills.
