Film is often a nice diversion during novel study. I have used the film, Soylent Green to break up the intensity of the novel, 1984. It is effective, since not only was the film produced in 1973, but students LOVE the (now comical) '70s interpretation of the future.
The film is NOT RATED, but there is no questionable language or inappropriate scene - unless you consider Charleton Heston's final words... :)
