Stem-Changing Verbs
In this three-page packet, students practice present tense, stem-changing verbs in Spanish by making a study chart and then by playing a series of Tic-tac-toe (Te Ta Ti) games. There are two different study charts included for different levels of students. One is blank and the other has the stems lightly filled in for students to copy over and then add the correct endings. Vosotros is included, but can be left out of the study guide. Vosotros is not included in the Te Ta Ti game. In the Te Ta Ti game, pronouns have been randomly filled in and students must correctly conjugate the verbs in order to put their mark in the space. Game variations might include: 1. Speed play: See how many games a pair can play in a given amount of time. 2. Elimination play: Have winners of one game play against winners of another to determine a class champion. 3. Team play: Have students form groups of 4 or more, and compete as teams. All students on one team will fill out their game boards the same way, but will take turns saying the verbs. 4. Roundtable play: Students play each game against a different partner, regardless of winners and losers.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Subject Area:
I have 23 years of experience in the classroom. I've taught Spanish most of my career, with a few years of Language Arts thrown in. I spent 13 years at the middle school level, and am in my 9th year at high school. I love both levels, and often can't believe how lucky I am to be in this profession. I taught a Spanish Teaching Methods course at BYU as an adjunct professor for two semesters, and loved that experience. When I retire from public school, my goal is to get a doctorate and start a second career at the university level.
