You'll be surprised by how quickly and confidently your students are writing when you use this activity with them. This is a great way to build confidence in writing, while reviewing verb forms and meaning. Before engaging in the activities, there are slides to review subject pronouns and verb forms.

Begin each slide by showing the students the possible sentence endings (click once to remove the red box that displays possible sentence endings). Students number their paper or mini white board 1-8.

Click once more to begin animation. A picture of a subject and an infinitive are revealed. Students write the correct verb form and an appropriate ending from the list. Students have 5 seconds to write the sentence and then the picture and infinitive are covered up, then the next sentence is revealed. When the last sentence is done, click again to go to the next slide where students can check what they wrote.

The next two slides repeat the exercise, but the verbs and subject pronouns are paired differently. Also the second time through, students only have 3 seconds to write and the last time they only have 2 seconds. By the second and third time through the students know the meanings of the verbs so well that they write the sentences without even looking at the possibilities.

This powerpoint includes activities for ar, er, and ir verbs in Spanish.

I have been teaching World Language (French, Spanish, Italian) at the elementary, middle and high school levels for 16 years. I regularly present foreign language teaching methodology workshops at state, regional and national conferences and in teacher preparation programs at various universities. I have spent time volunteering in schools in impoverished areas of Nicaragua and a portion of the money earned through TPT is used to buy school supplies (pencils, paper, books) for students at the Panama School in La Concha, Nicaragua.
