October is here and I have provided you with a new set of readers to add some sparkle to your reading program. There are four new books that provide the repetitive text "I see a" on each page. Both fiction and non fiction stories have been provided which reflect the new common core standards that are being implemented. Once again students use a variety of skills which allow them to interact with the text in a purposeful way. There is a strong focus on print awareness and contextual clues. Sentence strips for each story have also been included so that these stories can be taught and practiced with an entire class before children are pulled into small guided reading groups.
These are the titles I have included:
1. I See A Jungle: This is a cut and paste book that requires students to cut and paste the matching baby animal with her mother. Students need to look at the details of each picture.
2. I See A Pumpkin: This emergent reader is a piece of non fiction on the life cycle of a pumpkin, done in a very simple manner. Students are asked to retell this sequence and draw it themselves.
3. Who I See On Halloween: This reader will delight a young child who loves to dress up in a costume and has a writing piece that goes along with the book. They will be able to match the picture to the word used.
4. I See A Fire Station: This is a nice reader to use as part of your Social Studies curriculum when you want to discuss fire safety. The text is simple but you can build on this with ease.
Please note that there are three other sets of readers that you might want to purchase that are available in my store.
I love these books because they go right along with the Open Court kinder program. I also love the fact that they are seasonal. Makes it fun for the kids to have books connected to the seasons.
I hope they make reading special for your students.

I love that you include both the words for the pocket chart and the little books. It was so fun to spend a bit of time with the pocket chart and then pass out the little books and watch my kids' excitement when they realized they knew those words and could read those books! Thank you!

How are the books put together. I love everything you do and want to buy all your readers. My concern is that I need to make 30 of each and I need books that don't take long to put together.
