If you are like me, you’ve always wanted to know how to speed-read, ever since you were young. Well, I was working with a student teacher recently and he knew how to do it. He taught me (in only 3 minutes) and I put together a presentation to show my advisory students. It only took a few minutes to go through the whole presentation. By the time I was done, the students were jumping out of their desks to get their novels so they could practice. Most of my students were amazed at this idea, but one student said he already does this naturally. Some reading teachers might refer to this same idea as “chunking.” However, if you are not a reading specialist (I am not!) or if you are one and you’d like a presentation to show this idea, check it out!

I currently teach Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and Geometry to 7th and 8th graders in the Northern suburbs of Chicago. I have been teaching since 2004, and I have noticed that many of the units I'm looking for aren't already bundled in a nice package...so I made them myself!
