Spelling Center Activity Cards
Ready to add some spice to your spelling center? Then these activity cards are for you. There are 4 weeks worthy of activities designed to improve spelling skills as well as spelling fun. On Monday introduce the spelling words with one of the 5 kinesthetic activities. When Tuesday comes, practice the spelling words with one of the 5 tactile activities. Roll into Wednesday with visual activities. Finally on Thursday take fun practice test as you work on your auditory skills. Each activity is labeled with learning styles, working preferences and materials. Most activities are quickly pulled together. Worksheets or activity cards are included for lessons that need addition information. Enjoy these child tested spelling activities.

I always do whole group practices with each center activity before placing it out as a center. At this time I clearly outline the boundaries for the activity. With the Jell-O center I choose a trusted student to be the group leader, (after whole group practice.) This student is responsible for giving each one in the group the correct amount of Jell-O on wax paper. He or she is also responsible for make sure everything has been cleaned up after the center work. I have used this with students as young as first grade. With proper boundaries established and enforced it has worked well.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Ed-U-Smart is the education store that I've dreamed of creating for years. Children's imaginations inspired the character Edison U. Ratio Smart, the character behind Ed-U-Smart. Both of these are my "public" face. A bit about my, "private" face and experience follows below. I have 25 years of teaching experience in elementary schools. I have taught 1st-4th grade, gifted education, technology classes and math/technology classes. I am passionate about stretching children's brains. I love helping them reach new heights of learning and understanding. I firmly believe that any concept or idea is within all children's grasp. You just have to find the way they'll understand it. I love that challenge of "finding the way."
