Here are 40 Spelling Task Cards that can be used with any list. Students can complete a given number of cards per week or use at a center for extra practice. In order to accommodate different grade levels, there are also five different tracking sheets included that students can use to show which cards they completed. The tracking sheets are for 20 words, 16 words, 12 words, and 10 words respectively, plus one to use if you do not want students to write their words on the tracking sheet.
These cards will look best in color, but will also print out fine in grayscale. Simply print and cut along the guidelines. Laminate and use them again and again. Alternatively, you could print on cardstock. It works well to keep them in a baggie. Another option is to hole-punch a corner of each card and put them all on a ring. If you are planning to use these as a major part of your spelling program, you might want to print out a set for each student.
Depending on the words you use and the cards chosen, this resource meets several Common Core Standards. However, it is most aligned with this one (which applies to grades 1-6):
L.2.Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English capitalization, punctuation, and spelling when writing.

I LOVE THE VARIETY with these task cards. I want to ensure my students practice their spelling words other than worksheets and I have already decided next year I will pick four task cards a week for centers and each day they will have to pick a new activity from the four and then they will do their spelling worksheet for additional practice at home. Super excited about the year to come!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Subject Area:
Most of my teaching experience is with gifted and talented students in grades 2-4, though I have worked with children of all ages in general education classrooms as well. A few years ago I stopped teaching in order to write nonfiction children's books full time. Gradually over the last couple of years, my career has switched from writing to creating teaching materials here on Teacher Pay Teacher. I love creating teaching products (most recently task cards) and feel just as passionate about my work now as I did when I was teaching.
