Modeled after the popular card game, this is a Spoons Game for prefixes, suffixes, and root words.
In this file, you will find a cover page, a directions page, and the game cards. I have provided the game cards in two formats:
~cute game card like pieces in 2 pages
~one page game cards in a table
The three matches are grouped together on the pages. The students play the game similar to the card game, only instead of finding number matches, they find matches between educational concepts.
This Spoons game requries the students to match up cards based on whether the cards are referring to prefixes, suffixes, or root words.
I love this! Not sure the download has enough cards to really play a full game but the concept is genius. If I create additional games for Tpt using the spoon concept, is that copyright or how does that work? I am thinking of many ways to use it for math.
Most of my other spoons games are four player games. This one is a three player game. It goes by much faster than the four player game but it still works. Some concepts are more dificult to come up with four relationships. I don't mind if you use the spoon concepts to make more games. Of course, it is not copyrighted to me. It would be the same as different sellers make bingo games. As long as the format is not exactly the same then it is totally fine. I would love to see what games you create!

My students love this game! They will be thrilled when they find out it's not just an indoor recess activity anymore!
Oh my gosh! I am from Chatsworth, but have lived in Ellijay for the last 16 years. I used to teach at Spring Place Elementary! What a small world! Loved the prefix freebie! Thanks!
Thank your for catching my oversight! This was a three player game that I created and I failed to change the directions to indicate that. I appreciate your throrough examination of the product and your feedback. I will get this corrected immediately!

I am so thankful for all your resources on TPT, plus they are so affordable. My question is about the Spoon games. I have never played this game but I am going to buy yours for ELA. My group of 5th graders like to do things like this. I was wondering though if I can make the game longer by adding more cards? I was looking at the freebie for prefixes and suffixes. If I added about 5 cards for each would that "ruin" the game by making it too long or something? Thanks.
Hmmm. I love the game because it is fast paced and requires to think quickly and I love the part that makes the have to prove the matches. I think if it was too long you might miss out on having several students prove the relationship. However, if they were playing it for a longer period of time, you may need to lengthen the game. I don't think adding anything would ruin it, and if it isn't working, you can take some of the cards back. My suggestion is that if you have people at home (even grownups) to try it out on with the increased number of cards, I would do that. Then you can see if the time element is a factor. I hope this helps!

I just purchased your essential questions that go along with 4th grade, but I am unable to download it. Can you help me figure out what I'm doing wrong? Thanks. :)
The tpt website is having some problems right now. I have contacted support and hopefully they will have this fixed soon. You can wait and try again in an hour or, if you send me an email to j_findley2003@yahoo.com with your user id, I will gladly email you the product you purchased.
I saw your store on the home page of Teachers Pay Teachers; so, I thought I would look at your freebie. I left you a rating. Well done! Since you do not have many products yet, here are a couple of suggestions that might help you to better market your products.
Use the footer to put the copyright symbol, your name and date of creation on EVERY page. Items, especially free ones, have been "stolen" from TPT and posted on other sites to be sold. You have to protect all of your creations. Also number your pages. Finally, unless you want your products revised (I do for my tests) save everything in a PDF format as it is harder to change.
It is important that we see what others are doing; so, feel free to look at any or all of my freebies listed below to gather some more ideas.
Keep checking the Sellers Forum under Communication on your dashboard page. There are tons of ideas and helpful suggestions given by TPT veterans. The best of luck as you sell on TPT!

I'm seeing that quite a few of your products use DJ Inkers fonts. FYI that their fonts and clip art are not for commercial use due to copyright and terms of use policies.
