In my 14 years of teaching, this has to be one of the BEST projects I've done! The main objective for the students is to design a new Professional Sports Team Logo (the sport doesn't really matter) based on the culture and history of a particular city. (The city should be one that has no Pro teams)... The PowerPoint includes both real-life examples, student examples, and directions. Teachers love this activity for its blending of geography and history, while the students are drawn to the creative sports appeal. The real PPT is 12-slides using examples made in Computer Graphics class, but this project could be made in a regular art class as well!

It REALLY is great. Besides being a wonderful way to teach design, it offers a lot from the world of Geography and History - but it's cleverly disguised as a "sports" project. (Insert evil laugh here.) :-)
