Welcome Spring! Hello and thank you for looking at Spring Egg Hunt! Language Missions to Complete Around the World!

This will carry you through for about 6 speech-language therapy sessions! (13 mini lessons)

These lessons are appropriate for third through sixth grade students.

This is not only fun, but a great educational journey around the world while learning new and exciting basic facts and coming home with materials to engage learning across settings. If you enjoy working on units, you will love this lesson!!

Common Core Aligned - within document

The students’ mission is to travel to each country, beginning at the state of Alaska, to earn a spring egg for completing 10 language tasks in that country! Your students will meet up with two people from each country and they will learn vocabulary, traditions and about the culture through them, or the dialogue that is provided in the lesson!

Your students will be given directions to accomplish, vocabulary to learn and questions to respond to either verbally or through writing! There is a lot of variability here, as is with all of my lessons! Once the student completes the mission, they will receive an egg and add it to their ‘basket passport’.

The variability here is that, you do not have to do ALL thirteen stops on the journey. You can do a few, go back and do some more or do the entire lesson. As always feel free to expand on the lesson. Draw little highlight on the pictures! Add to the directions! You always can modify the lesson!

AND – it is up to you with whether or not you would like to print out a few copies, many copies for each student or photo copy it! (Please note, the adorable clip-art that I purchased for this lesson may have to be reinforced with a black pen on white lines, as they do not photo copy as well as if you print them… however, like you probably, I cannot print everything, so off to the photo copy machine I go. )
****** If you do not like the spring basket OR do this lesson after Easter, you can use the passport page that I included!

On the language missions, you will stop off at: Alaska (where the journey begins) then head to Japan, England, Egypt, Germany, France, Switzerland, India, Mexico, Greece, Australia, Netherlands and back home to the United States!

Again, when you take the adventure, your students will develop vocabulary, learn context clues and perform necessary tasks to complete the missions. Each country has 10 tasks for your students to complete in order to receive the egg for their passport basket! Every country has a dialogue with directions.

I additionally included a parent note that I like to send home explaining the events and activities of the week.

As always, if you have any questions or comments regarding this or any of my lessons, please feel free to contact me at chattywex@hotmail.com

Clip-art mentions are included within the document.

It would be great if you could provide a preview from this packet. Maybe just a page or two. It is hard to assess the level of the activities from the pictures and the activities do look phenomenal. My students are K to 2nd grade, so I'd like to be sure my 2nd graders could do this before purchasing. Meanwhile I just purchased your March activities...so I'll be busy!

Hi Blair - Thank you for your question. I was going to put pictures up explaining the activity, but I have been crazy over the past two weeks. I teach 3rd to 5th grade, so most of my products are for that level. I create the lessons for my students and if I can share with all of you, all the better. Quite honestly, I have done the activities with my third grade students for the Spring Egg Hunt and they needed the most support. In the description, I think I put that it would be appropriate for 3rd - 6th graders. I hate to steer you away from my products because I use and love my things all of the time, but I like to be honest with all of you. I would suppose that you could bring it down, but I think some of the vocabulary and thinking questions would be a bit difficult for your students. I have a few friends who create materials though for the level of your students - Jenna Rayburn at Speech Room News, Jenn Alcorn at Crazy Speech World / SLP Gone Wild, CC - If I Only Had SuperPowers, Rachel Osborn and Mia McDaniels, I can go on and on, but just to name a few lol. I also want to let you know that I am participating in a blog hop right now. If you go to my FaceBook, SLP for ME, page and 'like' it, you will see a link on the page to follow the blog hop - or you could go to the fb page, Figuratively Speeching and follow from there. You will get 12 great freebie lessons while hopping.

thank you for the reminder of putting the preview up. I used to do it all the time and has just slipped my mind! Dana
