Math Journals provide a valuable way to students to show and express various math concepts they have learned. I encourage my students to draw and write to show their understanding in each journal response.
This past year we have faced budget cuts... affecting our copies... so I created Sticking with Math Journals. I truly want to continue with the idea but had to find a more economical way.
I purchased inexpensive spiral notebooks at the beginning of the year for each student. Then created my math journal questions in a label format. Each page prints 30 labels that I hand out to my kids as they come through the door from recess. They skip 2 lines from yesterdays entry... stick the journal question for the day, write the date and explain their answer.
I have LOVED it. The entire year is in 1 notebook so we are able to flip back to previous journal entries for review.
One term I copied the journals onto (30 sheet) labels and term 2 on copied on bond paper and chopped the journals and stack them with rubber bands for each day. Both ways worked great.
If you are looking for a new math journal... this spiral review might be what you are looking for.
