This is early childrens "rap" with a chorus in mixed meters (4 & 3)Every time the word "listen" is sung it appears in a 3/4 meter measure. The song was written by Clark Bell to remind children that the streets and sidewalks can be very dangerous places and that they need to keep their wits about them (not allowing distractions such as "texting" to endanger themselves and their friends. The song appears in the Special Kind of Songs album which features a variety of meters as well as a lot of improvisation in a jazz format.

I am past president of the FEMEA (Florida Elementary Music Educators Association) and served on the FEMEA Board for over 6 years.
