Story Elements Tic-Tac-Toe includes 110 questions and writing assignments that can be used with any novel. The questions and assignments may be used in any creative way the teacher chooses. Using the lists alone provides a comprehensive way to introduce and teach all the elements of a story. I have also incorporated the 110 questions into 20 tic-tac-toe formats. In each of the grids, there are questions dealing with the story elements: setting, characters, plot, author, theme, mood, and miscellaneous. The students may be directed to choose any three assignments as long as they make a tic-tac-toe. This activity can be used throughout the year as prompts for journaling. This year-long unit provides differentiated instruction and evaluation. There are prompts which will spark the imagination of each of your students. Please rate this resource. Thank you.
