After introducing story elements to my students, I use these simple worksheets to provide them with hands-on experience working with elements of plot, setting, and theme. These worksheets work great with short stories, as students can work either in pairs or individually to review a reading selection and extract key information. I have used it with short stories such as "The Story of an Hour" by Kate Chopin, reading aloud while students followed along and used highlighters to mark story elements as they heard/saw them. Infinite possibilities!
