PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This activity may be done in collaborative groups or individually.

This Common Core based activity facilitates higher order thinking skills as your students describe and advertise a strange place. The activity is highly scaffolded with graphic organizers to guide students through each step of the process making it more accessible for EFL/ESL/ELD students.

The students will brainstorm strange places and describe a strange place using sensory imagery and spatial order. The culminating activities involve the students creating and presenting travel brochures and commercials about strange must-see places.

The activities include easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions throughout the whole process including the basic steps for creating a commercial and evaluation checklists for the brochure and commercial.

The students are encouraged to collaborate, use their imaginations, be creative, and have fun.
