This detailed student worksheet helps teachers structure a science classroom debate about an important ecological issue. Because ecological issues often invoke multiple perspectives from many disciplines, among which science is one, this lesson plan assists science teachers in presenting various perspectives of socio-scientific issues in their classroom. Can be used as a culminating activity at the end of a project- Time tested and teacher approved!

This lesson plan details how to structure a debate in your science classroom and involves students doing guided & independent research of literature, assists students in how to formulate arguments based on their understanding, teaches students how to determine credible resources, and allows teachers to present multiple dimensions of ecological issues (political, ethical, scientific, etc...).
